SXSW Recap
Delo – As we made our way to 6th street, this Houston emcee was the
first artist we spotted.
Snoop & Sway – A quick stop by the Nice Kicks store provided a run in
with legendary rapper Snoop Dogg as he just wrapped up an interview
for the Sway in the morning show.
V Nasty & Lil Flip – What a combo right? We saw these two within
minutes of each other. It appeared they were leaving the same venue.
Skyzoo & Illmind – A stop by the Engine Room was next, where we saw
New York emcee Skyzoo along with producer Illmind. The pair put on a
show; Illmind played a few beats as Skyzoo hosted and performed.
Uzoy – We spoke to the Houston emcee over at the Frontier Bar before
her performance. You can get familiar with her music here in our
mixtapes section:
Dirty & Nasty – We also spoke to this Houston Rap Duo after their set
at the Frontier Bar.
Yo Gotti – Memphis’ own Yo Gotti was seen posted up on 6th street
with his CMG Crew.
Zavey – Houston emcee and DJ Blade affiliate was spotted on 6th
street as well. He let us know he was there to work; passing out cds
and he gave word that he even had his mobile studio back at the hotel.
Al Hughes – The SPOT owner and headwrecka Al Hughes was out in the mix
of things as we bumped into him on 6th street. We talked about our
next move: a beat battle and showcase
The Beat Battle – There were a couple dope producers in this
competition but no one could stop The Church, who took home the $500
prize.
XO and Prolyfic – We couldn’t forget about the DJs. DJ XO, is
Doughbeezy’s official dj. We spoke to him right before the showcase.
We also got to talk to DJ Prolyfic, who DJs for Marcus Manchild.
Mr.16 – Southeast Houston artist stopped by for a while and handed us
his new project, Abraham Lincoln.
KDOGG – A close DJ Blade affiliate and Headwrecka, was also in the
building. We spoke about future studio sessions and you can check out
the music we came up with after sxsw was all said and done.
Moonstar Clothing – Shout out to our tee shirt sponsor! Owner Marc
West finally caught up with us at the showcase.
Krucial – Sound Mob was represented well as Houston emcee Krucial
gave us his new single “Ride Mercedes”
The Showcase – With performances from Doughbeezy, Killa Kyleon,
Propain, and ESG; this show was a great representation of the Houston
Music scene; new comers and OGs tore up the stage.
New Music – DJ Blade says a trip to SXSW is a must for any and all
artists. It’s a great way to network and get your music in the hands
on people just like us. We received music from various artists
including: Mr.16, Kruial, Rich Homie Quan, Red Sun Rising, Zavey, Land
Shark Promotion Studio, Mayalino, Chase Allen, Propain, and Willie
